Music Work/Play Space

Use this space to post ongoing reactions to pieces you hear in class, on line, and on campus this semester. It is a good place to practice citations for both music and on line sources, and to accumulate examples that you can use in the freshman paper.

Make live music a part of your experience. You are required to attend at least three concerts (in which you do not perform) this semester. Document those concerts here, as well. See the page below this one for details.

For each listening example, include a related reading or web site. Make connections, add graphics, videos, or any useful materials. Create a new module for each piece and include a section for reflection.

Your reflection can help place the work in a particular style or genre (typical of the professional language for music). Also, you can work to place the work within your emotional or aesthetic experience. Compare and relate to other pieces, but not only the one's in class. What else do you hear, discover, or know?

Here is a connection to the Manhattanville College Library Databases page for Music, where you can log on to the on line Naxos Music Library. You may have to login for off campus access.

Enjoy (and document!) your discoveries.
