My First Socratic Seminar

For my first Socratic Seminar, I had the job of being a coach. Having this job meant that I had to coach two people, Brandon and Nichole. They were going to be speaking and we all collaborated our ideas together to make sure they had the most profound and intellectual contribution to the conversation. During the seminar, we could not speak so I passed them notes about what I thought would be meaningful for them to contribute to the conversation. Throughout the seminar, I had to notice their remarks and write down different things I saw them do. These things consisted of checking to see whether they built on other peoples points, said something meaningful, bought other people into the conversation, etc. Brandon was the one who initiated the conversation which showed leadership on his part. I enjoyed being the coach because although I was not directly speaking, it was good to motivate both Brandon and Nichole to say good things in the conversation. Not only that, I had my ideas heard as well through them so I thought it was a good role to have and I'm happy that I was able to be a coach.
