During Week 3, we discussed our postcard assignment in class.
I chose Venice & Florence solely because it was an experience I could relate to, having been there myself. I simply chose Pompeii because I've always been intrigued by the city that was "frozen in time", so to speak.
[My senior/junior class was actually supposed to head there, but never got the chance. Hopefully, I will reach Pompeii someday!]
It really opened my eyes to the many preconceptions we have before we travel. Things in other countries don't run exactly the way they do in America.
Colin shared some of his mishaps from his adventures to Italy, which was both funny to hear about and to learn from. I remember some of the struggles my group had when we went for our senior trip-- one being, no heat in the van during a SNOWSTORM, horrible right? We finally got to trade it in for another (with heat that worked), but it definitely felt like a lifetime!

Going to Italy during a snowstorm is an experience in itself; not your typical tourist trip....

Oh my goodness! No heat during a snowstorm?! I'd cry....and then my tears would freeze on my face. That's really scary!
