In 2008, right before starting college I had the opportunity to work with a charity-run hospital in Lahore, Pakistan for the summer. As a fundraising interns, each of us was supposed to raise enough funds to cover the treatment of one patient in the hospital and the education of one child for one year in the associated charity-run school. Fortunately we were able to finish these projects. That summer I really learnt to appreciate the value of volunteers and community service as the money we raised was making a direct impact in people's lives.
