ART 4070: Museums as Studios (3 cr.) *
This course will use the museums in New York City as its studios. Both traditional and contemporary artwork will act as aesthetic inspiration for creativity and personal investigation. Activities will include brief lectures, drawing, painting, assemblage, and collage. Time in the museums will be spent drawing and sketching: on alternating days students will work in the studios at Manhattanville College developing sketches and drawings into major portfolio works. The museums will include The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Brooklyn Museum, The Museum of Natural History, and a trip to galleries.
