During winter break of 2012-2013, I worked at the Water Authority of Western Nassau County. During my time there I worked as an accounting intern. Due to the fact the Water Authority is a utility company, they use non-profit accounting principles and guidelines. I started by learning non-profit accounting and quickly began working on their balance sheet and journal entries. I was in charge of tracking a $17 million dollar account and journalizing all the companies expenses. I was later handed the task of assigning money to various departments based on expenses which also required an excel spreadsheet. At the end of my internship, I walked away with professional experiences in the financial sector.
