PREPARATION TIME: 1 hour and 10 minutes


4 skinless chicken breast halves

¼ cup flour

2 Tablespoons butter

½ cup maple syrup

1 teaspoon savory

½ teaspoon thyme

½ teaspoon sage

1 Vidalia (or other sweet) onion, sliced

Salt and pepper

½ cup water


PRE-HEAT OVEN: 350 degrees

Rinse chicken and pat dry.  Mix the salt and pepper with the flour and dredge the chicken in it.  Melt the butter in a frying pan and brown the chicken on each side.  Transfer to an ovenproof casserole, pour over maple syrup, sprinkle with herbs, arrange sliced onions on top, pour in water.  Bake uncovered for 1 hour.
