For our project we decided it would be a good idea to get data from students that go to the cafeteria and ask them their opinion of what they thought about the cafeteria. We came up with the questions, and decided that obviously going to the cafeteria for a survey based on the cafeteria was the best idea. Some of our main questions regarding this was the health value of the food as well as the environment and that was what we based the questions of this survey on. We wanted people to see how healthy they thought the food was. More people leaned more towards it being unhealthy. In the questions regarding the scale, 1 was equivalent to the best and 5 was the worst. With that being said, most people gave the health value a 4 meaning they generally don't think its very healthy food that is served in the cafeteria. When asked how appetizing the food was, the majority of people agreed 3 meaning the food is generally in the middle. When it came to enjoying the environment a lot of people said sometimes and many that said yes, agreed to it being enjoyable because they were able to socialize. Many people specified in the question that they enjoy going to the cafeteria to socialize more than they do, to eat the food. While yes, socializing is a good part of going to the cafeteria, we think students should also want to go because the food is really good and enjoyable as well. We also asked questions about locally bought food and whether people would enjoy it and the majority of people said yes they would prefer it which says a lot and we think people prefer and its good that Manhattanville, to a certain extent, does get locally grown food. It was also interesting that we asked whether students would volunteer on an organic farm if there was one, and many people said yes. Although the numbers to yes and no were similar, nonetheless more students responded yes.

It is understood that not many students were questioned for this survey but we simply wanted to get a glimpse of what other students besides the five of us in the group thought. We had other research and wanted this to add to it and simply know a little bit about what other people thought.
